Associated with the Homer’s epics and king Ulysses, Ithaca is deep rooted in ancient Greek history and mythology. A visit to the archaeological museum of Vathy, the capital of Ithaca, will give you the chance to admire the treasures of the ancient heritage. Peaceful, quite and ideal for relaxing holidays, these are some of the features which make this mountainous island, very close to Kefalonia, a place for travelers who prefer more alternative destinations. Scuba diving, hiking, as many paths of unique environmental beauty cross the island and Sea Kayaking are only some of the activities offered in Ithaca. One should try the local cuisine at some tavern by the sea in its small, picturesque villages. Besides Vathy, Stavros, Anoyi and Kioni are traditional settlements generally undiscovered by the crowd giving you a particular sense of tranquility.
